University of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences (UVAS), originally known as Lahore Veterinary College, is a public university located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Therefore It recognizes by the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC). So It has additional teaching campuses in the rural areas of Punjab, Pattoki, and Jhang. So Established in 1882, it is one of the oldest institutes of veterinary science and microbiology in Asia and one of the earliest institutes established by Great Britain in the Indian subcontinent. Since its inception, it has maintained its position as one of the well-known and renowned institutes of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science and conducted extensive research in microbiology and the development of human resources.

It also affiliates to Agricultural University, Faisalabad for some years and then became a separate entity. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in diverse areas of animal health, food irradiation, safety, and security. The university maintains its highest rank and considers one of the top universities in the “Agriculture” category by the Higher Education Commission (Pakistan) (HEC) as of 2010. Objective / Vision / Objective To provide quality education with rich opportunities for hands-on training and research. About 1000 acres of land acquired from the Punjab Government. The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore is one of the oldest veterinary institutes in Asia. So UVAS establishes as a Veterinary School in 1882 and by the end of the 19th century, it had got the status of Punjab Veterinary College.
