History

Founded in 1963, as a direct response to the Faculty of Engineering of Sindh University, it was affiliated with Sindh University (1951) in Jamshoro. Until 1973, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan Afghan was one of the founding presidents of the Faculty. The college of his efforts obtained the charter of the “University of Engineering” under the name of “Mehran University of Engineering and Technology”.

But the first batch of MUET enroll in January 1974, with 450 students majoring in civil engineering, machinery, electrical, electronics, metallurgy, chemical engineering, and industrial engineering.
