Bahauddin Zakaria University is a public university with its main campus in Multan, Pakistan. Bahauddin Zakaria University establishes in 1975 as Multan University and is one of the largest universities in Punjab. In honor of a Sufi saint, Bahauddin Zakaria (1171–1262), Its name changes. So As a degree-granting government university, it offers degree courses in over 60 majors, including biochemistry, pharmacy, engineering, humanities, business administration, law, arts, music, IT, agriculture, and languages.

According to the newly published 2016–2017 Times Higher Education (THE)[1] ranking system, Bahauddin Zakaria University is ranked among the top 800 most powerful universities worldwide. So In 2019, the university ranks 8th nationally by the General Universities category of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.

History

The university started functioning in rented buildings with eight departments in 1975. Now the university has a large campus with sixty departments and several constituent colleges, such as University Gilani Law College and Multan College of Arts, and Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Science and Technology (FAST) (formerly University College of Agriculture or UCA), Faculty and technology including engineering. The university also has residential facilities for students and staff.

Bahauddin Zakaria University is a general university, which provides education in arts and sciences. Since agriculture the mainstay of the region – the place and its environment produce the country’s best silver crop (cotton) and fruit crops such as mango, citrus, and dates to train manpower to solve agricultural problems considers expedient.

Accordingly, the College of Agriculture establishes in 1989. An agricultural college and its complement, an engineering college, are an integral part of the university plan. The College of Engineering and Technology establishes in 1994. So the Department of Commerce starts in November 1996. BBA classes start in the Department of Business Administration in October 1996. The Bachelor in Computer Science introduces in the Department of Computer Science in November 1996, although the Masters in Computer Science (MCS) was in operation since 1989. B.Sc. The class of electrical engineering started in November 1997.

Location

The university is 10 km away from the city center. The main campus spread over 960 acres. Its rear gate is Golden Present, which is 6 km away from Chowk Khamharanwala.
